This homophones card set can be used for small group, centers, morning warm-up, etc. They are intended to help students learn homophones. There are a total of 56 homophones word cards with 56 matching definition/meaning cards included in this resource.
There are two practical uses for these homophone cards:
1. Use it as a homophone matching game were students are required to match the meaning with the homophone word.
2. Use it as a homophone concentration game (picture cards only) in which all cards are spread out and placed faced down. Students can turn over 2 cards at a time. If the two cards are homophones, they win that set and can remove the cards from the game. If they aren’t, the student must flip the card back over face down and it is the next student’s turn to play. The student with the most matches wins. This will require students to know the homophone pairs and also use their concentration and memory to remember where those pairs are located.
